Jansen VanderMeulen, former student body vice president at WSU, is the newest member of the WSU Board of Regents. Washington Gov. Jay Inslee finalized the appointment, which lasts through June 2016.

“I am very excited for this opportunity to serve our university and state,” said VanderMeulen. “It is a great honor to have been chosen as the student voice on the Board of Regents, and I am grateful to Governor Inslee for his confidence in choosing me for this position.”

VanderMeulen succeeds Kevin Massimino in the student regent position.

“Regent VanderMeulen’s appointment continues the long tradition of strong student representation on the board,” said Interim WSU President Dan Bernardo. “I look forward to working with him on issues relevant to all of our students.”

VanderMeulen currently is completing undergraduate coursework for a degree in Spanish language and culture with a political science minor and a degree in philosophy with a minor in ethics; he is to graduate in May 2016.
